POLICY STATEMENT
1.1 Introduction
First Choice Facilities Services Ltd is aware of its responsibilities and obligations to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all its employees in the workplace. The Company shall comply with all the obligations placed upon it by The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and its associated legislation, regulations, guides and codes of practice. All employees are therefore required to comply with the provisions of the Health and Safety Policy.
1.2 Key Objective
First Choice Facilities Services Ltd considers health and safety matters to be of primary concern in the conduct of its daily business and declares the promotion of a safe and healthy working environment to be a Key Objective of the business. Accordingly, the Company is committed to ensuring that all employees at every level in the organisation, working in every area of the Company's activities, give priority to minimising risks and eliminating hazards. The Company believes that the achievement of this Key Objective benefit all persons involved in the Company's activities.
1.3 Communications
First Choice Facilities Services Ltd recognises that this Key Objective will only be achieved by effective communication with staff at all levels, as an integral part of the way the Company conducts its day to day business, through:
• Disseminating information • Giving instruction • Carrying out training • Supervising work activities
Such as to promote constantly safe working practices, create awareness of, and gain, commitment to, safety on the part of each and every person involved in the Company's activities.
1.4 Implementation
Implementation of this Health and Safety, Policy shall be achieved as follows:
1.4.1 Carry out risk assessment of those areas of the business that pose a significant risk, then
• Develop suitable measures to control the risks • Communicate those measures to employees, and • Regularly review the risk assessment.
1.4.2 Ensure safety practices and procedures are developed and maintained that
• Are relevant to the unit's activities • Comply with statutory requirements, and • Promote the involvement of all employees in the maintenance of a healthy and safe working environment 1.4.3 Ensure appropriate emergency procedures exist in all units and that all employees understand the procedures relevant to their location. 1.4.4 Provide training, instruction and supervision as necessary to support the Company's activity.
1.4.5 Provide appropriate protective equipment to comply with statutory requirements.
1.4.6 Ensure appropriate procedures are maintained for the reporting and review of all accidents, near misses and situations likely to jeopardise a healthy and safe working environment.
1.4.7 Review the Company's health and safety management process at least once per annum to ensure it remains dynamic, and that policy and procedures remain relevant to the needs of the business and to the needs of its employees, clients and customers.
